KCLA 2026 camp was a success! We work so hard all year as a group to plan an engaging day full of activities for a large group of children (of varying ages and interests) to get and keep them excited about reading.
💙 Thank you to my fellow Directors for your dedication to your job. I don’t know of a county like ours capable of undertaking an event like this. I am so thankful to work with you all.
You’re all fantastic, and Kossuth County is lucky to have you!
💙Thanks to all of the volunteers: The folks who show up to help with whatever is needed all day long.
💙Thank you to HyVee for the water donation, Country Maid for the yummy cookies, and Casey’s for filling a ridiculously large pizza order for lots of hungry kiddos.
💙Grateful for the Algona Community School District and the Transportation Dept. who have provided us 3 buses to pick up/drop off children safely every year.
💙 We are so fortunate that we have a space like Water’s Edge Nature Center to accommodate us, year after year.
💙 And thank you to all of our day-campers for a super-fun day! We hope to see you next year!

2026 LIBRARY CAMP INFORMATION:
⭐️ The bus will be at the library for pick-up at 9:05, and drop off will be around 2:30. An adult must be at the library when the bus returns to pick them up. (I’ll still be in Algona cleaning up from the day’s fun.)
(I’d give it 10 minutes either way just to be safe.)
⭐️I would recommend dressing them in comfy clothes and tennis shoes that work for any activity and any weather. There will be a nature hike, weather permitting, and we’ll be crafting with markers and such.
⭐️Your kids are encouraged to bring their water bottle. Of course we will feed and water them while they’re with us, but sending them with their own for the trip over and back is never a bad idea. Each kid will be given a bag upon arrival to hold their treasures.
⭐️If your child has any allergies to pizza & cookies, you’ll want to send a sack lunch. (You probably already indicated that on the registration form.)
⭐️If they have them, they can leave their cell phones or tablets at home. The day is packed with activities and moves too quickly for time to stare at a screen. We would also not like anything lost or stolen. I have your contact information on the registration form if they need to reach you.
⭐️We are so excited to spend the day with your kids! Thanks for trusting us with them to have a super-fun day!

🚌Here is the (approximate) bus schedule for camp tomorrow. Sue will be at the library at 8:30 to help the kiddos onto the bus.
(There will be helpers on the bus to Algona.)
🏕️When they arrive at the Nature Center, I will greet them at the bus and we’ll get them “sorted” and off on their camp adventure!
⏰The bus will return to the library at around 2:30 (give or take a few minutes). Please make sure an adult is there to take them home, as the library will be closed.
💙For my first-time camper parents, I’ll post a few little tidbits later to make sure the day runs smoothly for your little(s) and that they have the BEST day!

🌤️Friday looks like a BEAUTIFUL day for Library Camp!
⏰Registration closes tomorrow.
🚌After that, I’ll have a better idea of bus schedules (arrivals/departure times) for my little campers! If I had to guess right now, I’d say 9:30 and 2:45.
☑️Sue will be at the library Friday morning to make sure everyone gets safely on the bus. I’ll already be at the Nature Center waiting to greet them when they arrive!
