It is that time of year that our farming community is starting to harvest crops.

Please be patient with slow moving farm equipment and do not rush to pass and also share the road with oncoming equipment.

🚨 CONTROLLED BURN 🚨

The Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting a controlled - growing season - burn along Wise Rd. this afternoon. The burn will be on an 80 acre tract. Smoke will be visible for miles around the area.

Thursday evening, your firefighters along with our automatic aid partners Orchard Farm Fire Protection District, performed training at an acquired structure with hose line handling and deployment as well as pump operations.

Acquired structures are very huge asset for our firefighters as we get to perform several different training sessions with a closer to real life complexity.

Community Notice: SWAT Training Today

The St. Charles Co. Regional SWAT Team will be conducting training exercises today, Aug. 5th (9 am - 4 pm), in the area of 6000 Portage Road, Portage Des Sioux.

Please don’t be alarmed if you see an increased police & emergency vehicle presence in the area. This is a scheduled training exercise & there is no threat to the public.

Thursday evening, your firefighters assisted our friends at St. Francis of Assisi Church with clean up of the picnic grounds for this Sundays annual picnic. We are helping community and performing various hands on training aspects at the same time. Once complete, we returned to the station and was briefed on the Incident Action plans for this weekends events that we are participating in and covering.

For Thursday night training, your firefighters enhanced skills on boat operations, firefighting and pump operations from a boat as well as driving / backing with a trailer.

Thursday night training with our partners from Orchard Farm Fire Protection District provided by St. Charles County Ambulance District consisted of several BLS skills stations.

Both Departments train together on a monthly basis on EMS skills to ensure we stay up to date and create a cross functional working relationship.
