65th Highland County Maple Festival Traffic Tips:

#1 - B & L's Mountain Safe Transportation will be providing a complimentary shuttle service during all 4 days of the 2025 festival! The shuttle plans to run from approximately 8:30 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and 8:30 am to 4 pm on Sundays. Visitors can park for free at the Monterey Stockyard at 1367 Jackson River Road just south of Monterey off of Rt. 220. From there, a 12-14 passenger shuttle will transport visitors north up Rt. 220 with a drop off/pickup area at the entrance to the Monterey Pool at 78 Highland Park Drive so they can take the Community Trail to either the Highland County Public Schools or downtown Monterey. The next stop is near the popular Mill Gap Ruritan Doughnut trailer within walking distance of Monterey's Main Street. The shuttle will continue to travel to Spruce Street for a drop off/pickup area at The Highland Center in Monterey, and then continue on back to the Monterey Stockyard on a continuous loop. Complimentary parking at the Monterey Stockyard is first come, first served. No reservations needed. Last shuttle runs at 5 pm on Saturdays and 4 pm on Sundays.

#2 - Sometimes, traffic can get congested going in to Monterey during the festival. Though we feel it is well worth the wait for all the delicious food and amazing crafts, here is an interactive Google Maps link to an alternate route that bypasses Monterey from Rt. 220 or Rt. 250 to take you on your way to more sugar camps and other points of interest: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1fVnmt3MfLlB_scQdP75-tRQrzqUzr7g&ll=38.43402408890089%2C-79.587125&z=12

These are rural country roads, so take your time and enjoy the scenery for safe travels for all. Know that you are never more than 30 minutes away from the edge of Highland in any direction from Monterey using Rt. 250 or 220, so feel free to leave Monterey, visit a new sugar camp or other attraction, and come back in.
