Since the first time Americans stood up and said NO KINGS we have had a patriotic duty to defend our Constitution and the founding principles that makes America the freest nation in the world.

We the people decide our government and we are an inspiration across the world—we will always stand for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in America.

The history of slavery is an abomination that we will never let go of — nor should we. It was a practice that built the foundation of our country’s class system and economy; and a torture that stripped away the very meaning of what it meant to be human.

The Black community is a remarkable cultural force that has dictated our country’s trajectory, and here in Wisconsin we are proud to celebrate that history and the achievements of our Black community.

Juneteenth is an incredibly important time to reflect on the horrible history and impact of slavery and celebrate the progress that has been made.
