Today is a good reminder that one of the most powerful things we can give our kids is a love of reading.

Books open doors—to knowledge, imagination, opportunity and a better understanding of the world around us.

As a proud product of Milwaukee Public Schools and a strong supporter of public education, I believe every child deserves great schools, great teachers, well-funded libraries and access to books.

WHAT MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING TO RUSSIA?

Russia continues its brutal war against Ukraine. Russia is also helping Iran, providing military assistance, technology and intelligence that can be used against American forces and our allies.

Yet while the United States sanctions Russia, the Trump administration is welcoming Russia back into U.S.-hosted G20 meetings.

So which is it?

Are we going to hold Vladimir Putin accountable — or welcome Russia back onto the world stage while it wages war against Ukraine and helps Iran threaten American interests?

Sanctions only work when they're backed by consistent economic and diplomatic pressure. We should be standing firmly with our allies, pushing to end these wars, and making it clear that countries supporting aggression face consequences.

America needs a consistent foreign policy — not sanctions with one hand and a welcome mat with the other.

Scott Fitzgerald is on the side of billionaires and big business. Most Americans pay about 13% of their income in taxes. But the wealthiest billionaire families - just 8.2%. That's not right but Fitzgerald thinks that's a great idea.

And how did the big ugly bill pay for it? By cutting $ TRILLION in Medicaid. That's right, helping billionaires at the expense of the people who have the least.

This November, vote for a change!

DIESEL PRICES DON’T JUST HIT TRUCKERS — THEY HIT ALL OF US.

NBC News is reporting on record diesel prices as wars in Iran and Ukraine continue to disrupt global energy markets.

That matters here in Wisconsin because diesel moves our economy. Farmers use it. Construction companies use it. Manufacturers depend on it. And trucks running on diesel deliver nearly everything we buy.

When the cost of moving those goods goes up, the price we pay at the grocery store, hardware store and countless other businesses goes up too.

Washington needs to understand that energy policy and foreign policy have consequences at the kitchen table. We need to work toward ending these wars, strengthen American energy security, and stop policies that keep adding costs throughout our supply chain.

Families have been dealing with high prices long enough.

Lower Costs. Good Jobs. Better Healthcare.

For U.S. consumers, the rising cost of diesel is likely to result in higher retail prices for everything from produce and toys to lumber and apparel.

Scott Fitzgerald has one of the strongest pro-crypto voting records in Congress — but at what cost to Wisconsin?

Rep. Fitzgerald has cosponsored or voted for nearly every major pro-crypto bill to hit the House floor: the CLARITY Act, the GENIUS Act, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, FIT21, and more. Stand With Crypto gives him an "A" rating for strongly supporting the industry.

But crypto mining and blockchain infrastructure don't run on goodwill — they run on massive data centers that consume huge amounts of electricity and water. As crypto expands, so does the demand for the energy-hungry data centers straining local power grids and driving up utility costs for everyday families.

Wisconsinites deserve to know: when their representative champions crypto-friendly legislation, it comes with real infrastructure costs — costs their communities may be left to absorb.

⚠️ IMPORTANT CHANGES ARE COMING TO MEDICAID

There’s been a lot of confusion about when the health care changes passed in Washington actually take effect. Many of the biggest changes don’t arrive until late 2026 or 2027 — after the November election.
Here are a few dates worth knowing:

📅 Oct. 1, 2026: New Medicaid eligibility restrictions begin for certain lawfully present immigrants.
📅 Dec. 31, 2026: States begin more frequent Medicaid eligibility reviews for expansion adults.
📅 Jan. 2027: Medicaid retroactive coverage is reduced, limiting how far back the program can help cover medical bills.
📅 By Jan. 1, 2027: New Medicaid work and reporting requirements must be implemented, although some states may begin earlier.

What about Social Security?
Social Security retirement benefits were not broadly cut by this law. But millions of seniors rely on Medicaid and Medicare assistance alongside Social Security to afford premiums, prescriptions and health care.

The timing matters. Voters deserve to know what was passed, when it takes effect, and how it could affect their families before they vote.

I will continue fighting to protect Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and the retirement security Americans have earned.

I’m not a career politician. I’ve waited tables. I got my degree in hotel and restaurant management. But healthcare was always my calling, so I went back to school in my 40s and got my Radiologic Technology Certificate. I’ve worked in a variety of departments in the healthcare system and learned something every step of the way.

I know things need to change. My Quick Start Careers plan is about giving young people real options — skills that lead to real jobs, right here at home.

You shouldn't have to choose between filling a prescription and paying rent. That's not a policy failure — that's a crisis.

I spent years working in healthcare as an MRI technologist. I've seen what it costs people to get care, and I've seen what happens when they can't afford it.

Lowering prescription drug costs and expanding access to affordable healthcare isn't a talking point for me — it's what I've spent my career around.

You don't have to blow up the system to fix it. You just have to actually build something that works.
