Spring Cleaning in West Blocton!

It’s that time of year again—time to freshen up our homes, yards, and community! The Town of West Blocton is encouraging everyone to take part in spring cleaning, and we’re here to help.

Community Dumpster Available
To make cleanup easier, the Town has placed a temporary dumpster at the corner of Magnolia Street and Camelia Lane (next to Cahaba Medical Center). Take advantage of it while it’s there!

What the Ordinances Say (Quick & Simple)

Garbage, Trash & Property Maintenance
Under Town Ordinance No. 2021-08-01, residents are responsible for keeping their property clean and free of litter, trash, and debris. That includes:

No dumping on streets, vacant lots, or other properties
Keeping garbage in proper containers with lids
No leaving old furniture, appliances, or junk outside exposed to the elements
No inoperable or junk vehicles sitting on your property

W**d & Grass Control
W**d Control Ordinance No. 2021-1002, requires property owners to keep grass and weeds under control. This helps prevent:

Pest infestations (rats, snakes, mosquitoes)
Fire hazards from tall, dry grass
Unsafe or unsightly conditions

If grass or weeds get too tall (generally over 12 inches) or become a nuisance.

Let’s Work Together

Spring cleaning is about more than just appearances—it’s about keeping West Blocton safe, clean, and a great place to live.

Take a little time, clean up your property, and if you’ve got extra junk—use the dumpster while it’s available!

Let’s make West Blocton shine this spring!
