🚪 Ding Dong… and now your parents are talking to the police. 😬

Doorbell ditching may seem like a harmless prank, but it can quickly become a problem — especially late at night, when it causes fear, damages property, or escalates into trespassing and harassment complaints.

We’ve recently received reports of this activity in our community and want to remind everyone:
➡️ Running from responsibility is not a sport.
➡️ “It was just a joke” doesn’t make it acceptable.
➡️ Many homes have doorbell cameras, and yes… they work. 📹

Please talk with your kids about making safe and respectful choices. Our officers would much rather see kids enjoying summer responsibly than spending time tracking down prank complaints.

Let’s keep our neighborhoods peaceful and respectful. 💙

🚲 HELMET HAIR IS BETTER THAN ROAD RASH 🚲

Just a friendly reminder that Utah’s new e-bike laws are now in effect! Our officers are out around the community helping educate riders on the new rules and reminding kids to ride safe.

And yes… we’re rewarding riders we catch doing the RIGHT thing 👀🎉

If your child is out riding:
✔ Wear a helmet
✔ Follow traffic laws
✔ Ride safely and respectfully

Our officers may have a little surprise for kids spotted wearing their helmets and riding responsibly! 😎

Help us keep our community safe while still having fun this summer. 🚴

Press Release – April 27, 2026, 13:00
Limited Evacuation
WEST BOUNTIFUL - On April 25, 2026, officers with the West Bountiful Police Department
found explosive material at a residence near 1100 W and 1400 N while investigating another
call. West Bountiful Officers were joined by responders from the South Davis Metro Fire District
and the Davis County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad who determined that the explosive material
was believed to include dynamite.
West Bountiful Police Department secured the property while Bomb Technicians from the Davis
County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad evaluated the explosives. Due to the age and condition of
the material, Technicians took steps from April 25th through April 27th to stabilize the material
for safe disposal. There was no immediate risk to the public throughout the stabilization
process.
On April 27th, residents within 2000 feet of the residence were asked to evacuate as a
precaution during the disposal process.
A county emergency alert system broadcasted the message to cell phones and emails in a larger
radius than intended. County emergency management is reviewing the alert process to prevent
confusion with future alerts.
Bomb Technicians successfully disposed of all explosives on scene, and residents were allowed
to return home at approximately 12:10pm. There is no current public safety concern.
West Bountiful Police Department continues to investigate circumstances relating to the
presence of the explosives. One arrest relating to the explosives has been made at this time.
The Department and the City express thanks to Davis County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad,
South Davis Metro Fire, Davis County, surrounding police agencies, and all of the first
responders for their assistance. The City also expresses thanks to the affected residents and
businesses for their patience during this incident.

Press Release – Foot Pursuit – UPDATED/CORRECTION 3:55 PM, 4-10-26
On April 10, 2026, officers with the West Bountiful Police Department located a vehicle associated with
a suspect involved in a prior fleeing incident at a residence near City Hall. Officers responded to the
residence in an attempt to locate the individual.
While on scene, officers made contact with an adult female occupant, who provided false information
regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. During this interaction, the suspect exited the rear of the
residence and fled on foot.
Officers initiated a brief foot pursuit and successfully apprehended the unarmed suspect on the grounds
of West Bountiful Elementary School. The school was temporarily placed on lockdown and no students
were near the incident when it occurred.
There is no danger to the public.
Both the suspect and the female were taken into custody and booked into jail on multiple charges.
UPDATE:
As a correction to the initial press release, school children were present and nearby when the suspect
was apprehended near the school playground. The Department is working with the school to ensure
that any child that was frightened or troubled by the incident has access to school counseling resources.
The Department is also aware of social media posts claiming that school children witnessed that the
suspect was armed. We confirm the original statement that the suspect was unarmed.
