I come from a background where hard work meant everything.

Why I choose public service!

I Chose Public Service

I want to share something personal with you.

After I pulled my nomination papers to run for State Representative, I spoke with one of my college day friends.

He looked at me and said:

“Raj, you are a research scientist. Why politics? How did public service become part of your life?”

That question made me stop and reflect on where I came from.

I was born and raised in a small farming village in India, where people worked hard every day just to support their families.

During heavy monsoon floods, villages around ours were devastated. Families were standing in flood water with nothing to eat and no clean drinking water.

My grandmother did not wait for the government to arrive.

She opened our home, filled sacks with grain, and gave food and supplies to families from neighboring villages free of charge. No questions asked.

That was who she was.

Years later, when my father passed away, senior members of our village honored him by placing his political party flag over him and carrying it with respect.

Not because he held office.
Not because he had wealth or power.
But because people knew he cared about others.

That stayed with me.

Years later, that same belief in service came with me to America and eventually to West Boylston.

And over time, I came to understand something very clearly:

Service is not something I discovered during an election campaign.
It is part of who I am.
It is part of where I come from.

Helping people is not politics to me.
It is a responsibility.

That belief has guided me throughout my years serving on the Select Board and continues to guide me today.

That is why I am running for State Representative.

Not for a title.
Not for power.
But to serve.

It was a pleasure meeting delegates, elected officials, candidates, and residents from across Massachusetts.

UPDATE: Due to the inclement weather the May 30 community cleanup with the City Manager's Clean Team has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 11. The cleanup will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lower Pleasant St. Corridor.

VOTERS DESERVE A CHOICE

According to this article, nearly 60% of Massachusetts legislative races will have only one candidate on the ballot.

Voters deserve a choice.

Democracy is strongest when ideas are debated, records are examined, and elected officials are accountable to the people they serve.

This year, voters in the 14th Worcester District have a choice.

I am running because Worcester and West Boylston deserve strong advocacy, greater accountability, and a representative who will fight every day to bring our fair share home.

For too long, many people have felt that their voices were not being heard. Elections are an opportunity to change that.

On September 1, the choice belongs to the voters.
