The City of West Branch will be accepting bids on the following item. Sealed bids, labeled as loader, are due by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at City Hall, 121 North Fourth Street, West Branch, Michigan 48661.

1. 2011 John Deere Loader model 444K

The loader is being sold” as is”. The loader has 4,022 hours on the engine. That could change slightly if needed between the posting of this notice and the sale of the equipment

That will be Cannons and Gun Fire for the Civil War Reenactment this weekend.

We have received the following notice from Consumers Energy that they will be in our area trimming or removing trees as part of their routine maintenance. Many utility companies, including Consumes, have easements in the road right of way; therefore, the City has no say into what type of work is to be performed.

"We do our best to provide you with safe, reliable service, and part of that is performing routine maintenance, which includes tree-clearing work in your neighborhood.

Soon, a planner from our Forestry team will be marking trees in our right-of-way that need trimming with a blue dot and trees that need to be removed with a blue X. If the tree is outside our right-of-way it may be marked for removal with a blue A.

If your tree is marked, a planner will attempt to contact you in person. If you're unavailable, a door hanger will be left with the planner's contact information if you would like to discuss the planned work before it proceeds. An additional letter that further outlines this work will be arriving shortly.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The West Branch Planning Commission will hold a public hearing during its regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 121 N. Fourth St., West Branch, MI. The topic of the public hearing is to take comment on a special use permit. The applicant is seeking a use permit to allow a health care/dental/optical clinic/hearing clinic in the Mixed-Use District (MU). The location of the proposed business is 444 E. Houghton Ave. Written comments may be mailed or dropped off at City Hall at the above address or emailed to [email protected] prior to the public hearing. The public may appear at the public hearing in person or by counsel. Accommodations and necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to persons with disabilities, as well as the hearing impaired, who require alternately formatted materials or auxiliary aids to ensure effective communication and access to meetings or hearings. Join us today as Bike Bash 2026 invades the downtown to "Show off their Chrome". Bikes will start lining up at 2:30 with the show kicking off at 3:00 and running till 6:00. The event will take place downtown between 2nd and 4th Streets and feature live music and the best bikes from around the State.

Please note: the detour route will reroute you through some road construction on the north side of town. There will be some barricades and cones to maneuver around but the road will be open so please use caution as you travel through that area.
