🚨High School sports practices started this week! 🚨

🚔Student athletes may be utilizing crosswalks in the area like:

-Howard Street
- North Main Street by the Rail Trail
- North Elm Street at Spring Street

These crosswalks are used by students during their practices when they are conditioning for sports like Cross Country.

Drivers MUST slow down, STOP and allow pedestrians to cross while in the crosswalk 🚔🚨

🚨SCAM ALERT!🚨

We have been made aware of several people receiving calls from someone posing as "Sergeant Gilbert" from the West Bridgewater Police Department. This scam caller informs them that they have an arrest warrant out for them and then tries to get them to give their personal bank account information. It has been reported that the phone number on caller ID even appears to be from West Bridgewater.

This is a scam! Not only do we not have a "Sergeant Gilbert" on staff, but the police will never contact you and attempt to get your bank account information. Always remember, DO NOT give out any personal information to anyone over the phone or internet. (such as social security number, bank account info, date of birth)

Meet Officer Jacob Sosik, who has been a police officer with us since April 2026.

Background: I grew up in Stratford, CT, where I graduated from Stratford High School in 2014. I then attended Springfield College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. I began my law enforcement career with the New Haven Police Department, where I worked for 5 years. Three years ago, I relocated to the South Shore of MA and continued my career at Berklee College of Music PD in Boston. Most recently, I was hired by the West Bridgewater Police Department in April 2026.

Hobbies: Outside of work, I enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors with my family, friends, and dogs. I value activities that keep me active, including trail running, kayak fishing, and working out.

Hardest Part of the Job: People typically do not call the police on their best day, so one of the hardest parts of the job is seeing people during some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives.

Best Part of the Job: One of the best parts of the job is that every day is different. No two days are ever the same. Each shift brings new experiences, opportunities to help others, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the community.
