Monday is a holiday, which means the courthouse is closed.
And while we fully support everyone enjoying the long weekend, we’d like to remind you that your poor decisions do not get a holiday.
So before you decide to make some questionable choices this weekend, just remember:
🍻 One bad decision can turn into several.
🚔 We’ll still be working.
🏠 The jail will still be open.
⚖️ The judge? Not so much.
In other words… don’t spend your long weekend making the jail staff your new best friends.
Have fun. Be smart. Make good choices. Don’t drink and drive.
Because when Tuesday rolls around, we’ll be back at work and nobody wants to explain to us why their weekend ended in a holding cell.

Don’t become our weekend content.

September has arrived which means pumpkin spice, football, hoodies, changing leaves and apparently 90° temperatures??
Mother Nature clearly missed the memo.
But hey, it’s Wednesday, which means we’re officially HALFWAY THROUGH THE WEEK!

Stay cool, stay safe, buckle those seatbelts, and enjoy the last few days of summer pretending it’s fall

Police officer by day. Firefighter by opportunity?
When a tree falls on a power line and catches fire, you do what you have to do… including handing a police officer a fire hose and letting her live out her lifelong dream of being the TRUE HERO. The next question she asked was when was it nap time.

We brought the old Crown Vic out of retirement today for some emergency vehicle operations training.
Things were going great… until the Crown Vic decided that it was done training and promptly retired itself.
Thankfully, Beckman’s Towing came to the rescue and hauled our retired warrior away.
We wish we could say it was part of the scenario, but unfortunately, the Crown Vic just wanted to make sure everyone got some REAL emergency vehicle experience

We’re calling this a very successful training day because we learned an important lesson:
Always have a tow truck on standby when you bring a Crown Vic back from the dead.

West Burlington Police Department is joining forces with Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) Iowa and 23 other agencies for “Saturation Saturday,” a powerful state- and nationwide initiative to fight impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend. This coordinated effort aims to save lives by intensifying impaired driving enforcement during one of the year’s busiest travel periods, in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

If you drink, have a plan:
✅ Designated driver
✅ Rideshare
✅ Call a friend

Getting home safely is always cooler than a ride in the back of a police car.
