The West Essex First Aid Squad is a volunteer non-profit EMS agency providing BLS, transport, and rescue to the towns of West Caldwell, North Caldwell, Caldwell, Fairfield, and Essex Fells, and mutual aid to surrounding towns, and is also a 501(c)(3) registered charitable organization. Founded in 1937, West Essex First Aid Squad, commonly called WEFAS, has been providing FREE EMS for over eight de

cades, run entirely on donations and the outstanding support of our towns’ residents. It is with deep sadness that the West Essex First Aid Squad announces the passing of Life Dispatcher Member Carol Ginefra. Carol had served as a dispatcher for the squad for over 55 years as well as serving faithfully as a member of the West Essex First Aid Squad Auxiliary as well as in many different administrative roles.

Carol's dedication and service was an inspiration, and she will be sorely missed.

On Tuesday, July 28, the West Essex First Aid Squad responded to a fire in Caldwell during a rainstorm. At fires, the squad will treat any injuries and provide rehab to the firefighters. Thank you to ShopRite for providing all the bottled water that we provide to firefighters at working fire scenes.
