Westtown Township – Odor Investigation

At 6:21 PM, the WCFD was dispatched to the 1600 block of Skiles Blvd for an odor investigation after a caller reported smoke alarms sounding along with a burning smell.

Crews arrived and conducted a thorough search of the residence, ultimately determining the source to be burnt food.

All units cleared the scene a short time later.

Safety Reminder:
Never leave cooking unattended. Burnt food is one of the leading causes of residential fire alarms and can quickly escalate into a dangerous situation. Ensure your smoke alarms are working properly and, if they activate, always take them seriously and investigate immediately.

East Bradford Township – Pole/Wires Incident

As crews were returning from the earlier woods fire, they were quickly dispatched to the 600 block of Tower Lane for a reported pole and wires incident.

Units arrived to find a small brush fire, which was quickly brought under control and extinguished.

After clearing the scene, our volunteers returned to the station to begin cleaning and restoring equipment.

Mutual Aid – Concord Township

Just before 3:00 PM, the WCFD’s First West Chester Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Concordville Fire Company (Delaware County) with a reported wood fire on Cottonwood Drive in Concord Township.

Brush 51 and Utility 51, along with ATV 51, responded and are currently operating on scene assisting with the incident.

🚨 Mulch Fire Response – April 10, 2026 🚨

Just before 9:00 PM, crews from WCFD were dispatched to the 700 block of East Union Street in West Goshen Township for a reported mulch fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a small section of mulch smoldering in front of a business. Crews quickly extinguished the fire without incident.

✅ No injuries were reported
⏱️ Units cleared the scene at 9:14 PM

🔥 Safety Tip: Mulch fires can start from discarded smoking materials or heat buildup. Always properly dispose of ci******es in designated containers and keep mulch beds well-watered and away from buildings.

🚨 Auto Accident Response – April 6, 2026

West Chester Borough, PA – Just before 3:00 PM, the WCFD, along with GFAC, were dispatched to the 700 block of South New Street for a reported auto accident with possible entrapment.

Upon arrival, crews found that all occupants had safely exited their vehicles and confirmed that no one was trapped. The incident was scaled back, with Rescue 53 and EMS remaining on scene to handle patient care and assessment.

We’re grateful for a positive outcome and remind everyone to drive safely.
