Many thanks to our friends at Chester County United Way for hosting a back-to-school supply drive to benefit student families served through MCHC across Chester County!

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters throughout the summer, supplies were distributed to families last week, just in time for the first day of school. Thank you to all who supported this effort and for helping set our kids up for success🎒!

Everyone has a part to play in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for the kids who play sports. From the coach to the parents to the kids themselves, we can all take action to encourage positive communication skills, foster emotional connections to teammates and opponents, and create policies that keep kids safe while playing (or after injuries).

Sports are a great way to teach kids about teamwork, discipline, various motor skills, and (of course) having fun!

There are many ways to keep kids safe while they participate in sports, like:
Make sure all athletes have enough time to warm up and cool down before and after practices and games.

Prioritize rest to prevent overuse injuries, heat illness, and fatigue.
Send athletes to practice and games with a water bottle and encourage them to stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during and after play.

175 students are heading into the new school year with a little extra support!

This year’s back-to-school drive brought together school supplies and hygiene items for students from kindergarten through 12th grade across Chester County. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, spread the word, and assembled to help make this year’s drive such a success!

Drivers should always follow the speed limit and slow down in school zones and near bus stops.

Speed limits are lowered during time periods where people are coming or going from school buildings in order to keep those people -and the drivers around them -as safe as possible. When driving during these times, drivers need to be extra aware of pedestrians and kids who may be trying to get to or from the school bus.

It is always illegal to pass a school bus that has its stop-arm out and flashing lights.
If someone chooses to pass a bus with its stop-arm out and lights flashing, it puts children in danger of being seriously hurt.

The greatest risk to a child is around approaching or leaving a bus, rather than riding on it.

Booster seats protect children who are too big for a car seat but too small for a seat belt. Seat belts don’t fit children properly until they are at least 57” (4’9”) tall and weigh between 80 and 100 pounds.

Booster seats can reduce the risk of serious injury by 45% compared to seat belts alone!
Keep your kids safe by buckling up, every ride, every time, in the right seat.
