Nothing better than a burger from the grill...but flare ups can happen.🔥🔥
Do you know how to (calmly) extinguish a grill fire when it gets too larger or worse...spreads?

1.) Have a fire extinguisher within reach
2.) Attempt to turn the burners off. This will help stop fuel from feeding the fire.
3.) Close the grill lid, as a lack of oxygen will help to ease the fire & slow it down.
4.) Use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames using the P.A.S.S. technique

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Life Member and Engineer Thomas W. “Tommy” Neilds on August 1, 2026.

Tommy joined the Fire Company in August of 1970 and served for many years as a dedicated member of both the active Fire and EMS crews. He was a true “hands-on” engineer, happily spending countless hours at the firehouse with his partner in crime, John Bishop.

Tommy’s favorite vehicle was “Number 4,” the 1954 Wiggins, and he took great pride in keeping it in top shape. His dedication, knowledge, and willingness to lend a hand made him an invaluable part of the Fire Company.

Tommy was also deeply involved with the Goshen Country Fair. For many years, he provided the animals for the popular petting zoo, bringing joy to generations of fairgoers. It seems especially fitting that Tommy’s passing occurred on the Saturday of the 2026 Fair, an event that meant so much to him.

Congratulations to Keith Laws, A.S., CCEMT-P, on his retirement from Main Line Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as Paramedic Chief. Chief Laws was joined at his retirement ceremony by Richard Micun, Deputy Chief of EMS at Goshen.
