We took a moment out of our Monthly General Membership Meeting to honor one of the great ones! Fire Police Officer Charlie Myers is hanging up his vest and flashlight after an outstanding 40+ year volunteer career at GFC. His life has been dedicated to serving the public in both his volunteer and professional careers in Delaware and Chester Counties, as an EMT, Fire Police Officer, and police officer. Charlie retired from the Tredyffrin Township Police Department as a Detective after more than 30 years of service.

The weather was perfect for our annual Fire Prevention Open House, and we had an awesome crowd! Thanks to all who attended to see fire/rescue demonstrations, visit with our personnel, pick up some swag, and admire the many pieces of fire and police apparatus on hand. Thanks also to West Whiteland Fire Company, Fame Fire Co. No. 3 and Good Will Fire Company #2 of West Chester for their work on the vehicle rescue demos, and to the companies that sent apparatus...there are a lot but hopefully we are mentioning them all: Edgmont Township Fire Company No.1 Station 64, West Chester Borough Fire Department, Broomall Fire Company, Paoli Fire Company, Pillow Fire Company, Chester County HAZMAT Team, Chester County Department of Emergency Services, Malvern Fire Company,East Brandywine Fire Company, Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police, West Goshen Township Police Department, and Willistown Township Police Department. Special thanks to Beau Crowding and 1-800-BoardUp of Philadelphia for providing a building for our fire sprinkler demo.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible.

Do not block exits when charging.
These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.
