The West Chester Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (WCCPAAA) is a pro-law enforcement, community organization. It is comprised of members that have completed and graduated from the West Chester Citizen Police Academy. The mission of this organization is to build a strong and lasting partnership between the West Chester Community and the West Chester Police Department through cooperation an
d education. The WCCPAAA serves West Chester Police Department and West Chester community in many ways, including assisting with child ID fingerprinting, the annual bike rally, Shop with a Cop, Coffee with a Cop, the Drug-take-back program, and other community events. The Citizen Police Academy was created to build a strong and lasting partnership between the Police Department and the community. Participants in the course cover topics such as: Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, Traffic Investigations and much more. Participants will see the Township jail and forensics lab, as well as a SWAT training exercise. Participants will learn firsthand about the operations to foster a better understanding between police and the public. The Citizen Police Academy is offered one time every Fall and Spring with a limited class size. Police department personnel teach classes one night per week for a total of 10 weeks from 6-9pm. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and either reside or work in West Chester Township. A number of other criteria must be met before being accepted into this program.
