Big Boy No. 4014 is coming to West Chicago!

From June 2–4, community members will have the opportunity to see Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, as it makes a stop in West Chicago during its 2026 tour.

West Chicago Community High School will be offering event parking on campus, with proceeds benefiting the WCCHS Student Council. Food trucks will also be available on-site.

Big Boy No. 4014 is making a stop in West Chicago June 2-4 as part of its nationwide America 250 tour. Student Council members, parents and staff will be helping manage parking while raising funds for student activities.

Congratulations to our Business Professionals of America (BPA) students on an outstanding year of competition and achievement!

After earning top honors at the Illinois BPA State Leadership Conference, five Wildcats advanced to the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, where they competed against thousands of students from across the country and around the world.

A special congratulations to Joey Marszalek, who earned a 5th Place national finish in Fundamental Accounting, and to Brian Nguyen, Dirk Ulbrich, Ryan Slattery, and Daniel Szacilowski, whose Economic Research Team captured the Illinois state championship for the second consecutive year.

We are incredibly proud of these students for representing West Chicago Community High School with excellence, professionalism, and determination. Thank you as well to BPA Adviser Kevin Jarosz for his leadership and dedication to our students.

Well, Wildcats, we're at the end of another year, and that means it's time for one of our favorite annual traditions - Golden Apple Gratitude. Grab a box of Kleenex and pull up a front-row seat to the exact kinds of interactions that make WCCHS such a truly special place to learn, lead, and live.

Under the direction of Profe. Mastroianni (herself a WeGo alum) and the Pep Club, this tradition consists of our departing seniors popping into classrooms before they leave to thank the teachers who have most powerfully impacted them over their four years here.

We call it Golden Apple Gratitude, and we think it should give you another great look at the community that makes WeGo such a truly special place.

Equal parts emotional, exciting, and hard to believe this moment is finally here.

Next stop: graduation on May 19.

Another year has flown by, Wildcats, and that means it's time to acknowledge the recipients of this year's Senior Superlative awards. From "Next Broadway Star" to the student whose classmates deemed him the greatest "Danger to Kerr-McGee," they're (almost) all here for their crowns this morning!
