It's Shop with a Cop day at the West City Wal Mart Super Center, a morning filled with shopping, Breakfast Pizza from in Benton, from West City McDonalds, Cookies from Christmas Cheer from the Village Of West City , Abbott's Towing, and anonymous donors, Thank You for making this Christmas special for some great kids.

The non emergency numbers for the West City Police Department are currently out of service, in an emergency please call 911, for non emergencies please temporarily contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Department at 618 438 4841. Who can reach us via radio.

On Sunday November 16th at 10:31 P.M. The West City Dispatch center was notified of a bomb threat at a local business. Units from the West City Police Department, Benton Police Department, West City Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, The Franklin County Sheriff's Department, and the Illinois State Police responded to the scene , evacuating all area busineses, and creating a safe perimeter around the threatened area. The Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad was requested, and responded. Secretary of State explosive detecting K9 units and handlers searched the area and buildings, all was found to be secure at 12:02 A.M. A Thank You to all responding agencies for their assistance.
