We would like to extend a huge thank you to the many law enforcement, fire, EMS, and public safety agencies that responded and provided support during last night’s officer-involved shooting, including the City of Cayce Police Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division - SLED, Lexington County Sheriff's Department, Lexington County EMS, West Columbia Fire Department, Columbia Police Department, SC, as well as the many other agencies and entities who responded and reached out to provide support.

Chief Marion Boyce said, "We are grateful for your professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to keeping our community safe. Thank you for standing with us when it mattered most."

West Columbia Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of North Brown Street at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The call resulted in both an officer and the suspect being transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Both the officer and suspect are in stable condition at this time. The case has been turned over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for investigation.
