WCFD had a great time connecting with Leadership Lexington County at City Hall for the May 2026 Municipality Day!

It's always a privilege to demonstrate our equipment, share an inside look at our emergency operations, and showcase the resources we use to protect WeCo.

WCFD honors the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We pause to remember their courage, their selflessness, and the profound debt of gratitude we owe to them and their families.

WCFD was honored to help cheer on the Unified Champions as they departed Saluda River Academy for the Arts. Our crew gave the buses a misty sendoff as they headed to Airport High School to compete in the South Carolina Special Olympics.

🚧 Mill Village Area Infrastructure Project Update 🚧
Beginning the week of February 16, 2026, the City of West Columbia will begin improvements to the storm drainage system on Alexander Road near the entrance of Riverwalk Circle.

During construction:
• Detour signs will be in place to guide local traffic around the construction area
• Access from Riverwalk Circle onto Alexander Road will be limited to left turns only
• Access for Riverwalk Circle residents will be maintained at all times

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews complete these necessary storm drainage upgrades.

You know what that means... WCFD is officially cleared to give Olly the "Big Soak." Olly, we hope you've been practicing your backstroke, because we're ready for you. 👀

Over halfway there! We're teaming up with Olly the Otter and Meaningful Play for their Easter fundraiser, bringing joy to local kids facing serious illness right here in WeCo.

If all 95 families are sponsored, Olly will get soaked with a hose at the WCFD fire station! Help us reach their goal: https://tinyurl.com/3czkudyx

WCFD had a surprise visit from Olly the Otter! We’re teaming up with Olly and Meaningful Play for their Easter fundraiser, bringing joy to local kids facing serious illnesses right here in WeCo.

We still need to sponsor the remaining 48 warrior families before Easter.

WCFD is teaming up with Olly the Otter and Meaningful Play for their Easter fundraiser!

What is Meaningful Play? It's the belief that joy is a tool for healing. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, heart defect, or rare/severe illness, Meaningful Play brings Olly the Otter to their front doors to bring back normalcy through play. Right here in WeCo, we have 18 brave kids, including siblings, who are facing life's toughest battles.

What's in a Sponsorship? For these kids and their siblings, it's more than just an Easter egg. It's a visit from Olly, a "Glow-in-the-Dark" egg hunt to find the light in the dark, and a chance to just be a kid. A full family sponsorship is $100, but any amount helps. If ten people chip in $10, that's one West Columbia family fully covered!

Let's show these Warriors that WeCo has their back 👉 https://tinyurl.com/3czkudyx

If all 95 families are sponsored, Olly will get soaked with a hose at the WCFD fire station. 😎
