A message from Chief Neeley of the Pine Ridge Police Department:

As many of you have heard by now, Columbia Police Department, SC lost one of their own today. This morning, Officer Police Officer Chris Delong was killed in the line of duty. I cannot express how excruciating this senseless death is for our fellow brothers and sisters in blue, his wife and two young children, and our great state of South Carolina. Our entire community is grieving from this tragedy.

Officer Delong served the City of Columbia community proudly and bravely with pride and honor. Our community needs to draw strength from each other and give support and compassion to those who are grieving.

Lastly, I ask that you join me in lifting up The entire Delong family, including his City of Columbia Police Department family, in sincere and heartfelt prayer.

🚪🛎️ DING DONG… YOUR UNINVITED SALESPERSON IS BACK! 🛎️🚪

We’ve received reports of door-to-door salespeople making their way through neighborhoods in Pine Ridge.

Whether they’re selling pest control, internet, solar panels, security systems, or the latest “deal you can’t pass up,” here’s a friendly reminder…

🚫 Door-to-door peddling is illegal within the Town of Pine Ridge unless the individual has a valid Town issued peddler’s permit. ( which is only good for three days)

Here’s what you should know:

📜 Ask to see their permit. They should have it with them and be able to present it upon request.

🏡 You are never obligated to answer the door. If you’re not interested, it’s perfectly okay to ignore the knock or politely decline.

⏳ Peddler permits don’t happen overnight. They require an application, fee, and processing time—so “I just started today” isn’t a valid excuse for not having one.

📞 If someone is going door-to-door without a permit, give us a call at our non-emergency number: 803-785-2521.
If you ever feel threatened or unsafe, call 911 immediately.

**Service appears to have been restored**

🚨 VERIZON CELL OUTAGE 🚨

We have received reports that Verizon customers are having issues placing and receiving calls. Verizon is aware and is working to remedy the issue.

In the meantime, you can utilize WiFi calling to place a 911 call when connected to a WiFi network. To enable this go to your phone’s settings, find the search bar, enter “WiFi calling”, and set it to “on”.

If you are unable to make a call, you can also attempt to text 911. SMS messages use less data than phone calls and this could allow the message to come through.

🚨Introducing Our Autism Safety Initiative 🚨

The Pine Ridge Police Department is proud to offer Occupant with Autism vehicle/home window decals as part of our Autism Safety Initiative.

After seeing the tremendous response to similar programs launched by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Neeley knew this was something he wanted to offer Pine Ridge residents.

These decals can provide officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders and the public with an immediate visual notification that an autistic person may be in the vehicle or in the home.
Every individual with autism is unique, and some may experience sensory sensitivities, communication differences, or react differently during stressful situations.
This decal can help first responders recognize those possibilities so they can approach interactions with greater understanding, patience, and awareness.

Our goal is simple—to try to help create safer, more positive interactions between first responders, members of the community and individuals with autism.

If you would like a window decal for your vehicle or home, please stop by the Pine Ridge Police Department. One decal per household.

To receive a decal, we ask that you bring documentation (drivers license - showing you are a resident of the Town of Pine Ridge. We would also love the opportunity to meet your loved one with autism, so we may introduce ourselves in a calm, welcoming environment (if) and before an emergency ever occurs.

Building relationships before they’re needed helps us better serve our community, and we’re committed to making Pine Ridge a place where every resident feels safe, understood, and supported.

💙 Together, we’re building a safer community—one conversation at a time.

Pine Ridge Police Department and the Town of Pine Ridge, South Carolina also donated 31 book bags with school supplies in them to Wood Elementary School. Without our community partnerships and the help of residents and community members, this would not have been possible.

Thank you!
