Lexington Medical Center Department of Public Safety The men and women of our department are proud to serve those who are patients, visitors and staff of the Lexington County Health Services District.

The Lexington Medical Center Department of Public Safety is an accredited law enforcement agency in West Columbia, South Carolina commissioned to provide police services to hospitals operated by the Lexington County Health Services District. In 2006, Lexington Medical Center became the first hospital in South Carolina to create its own police department. Police officers are trained at the South Ca

rolina Criminal Justice Academy to become Class I law enforcement officers. These officers have the authority to carry weapons, issue citations and make arrests similar to any other police officer or county deputy. In addition, the department is comprised of security officers, communication officers and other civilian employees who perform essential duties. The safety of Lexington Medical Center patients, visitors and staff is our number one priority. The department is focused on maintaining peace while providing a safe environment for all who visit our campus. Security planning is an integral part of any successful security program. The campus police department coordinates hospital safety efforts ranging from crime prevention, criminal investigation and crime reporting to emergency preparedness, escorts and vehicle assistance.

After completing the requirements of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, Officer Vincent was officially sworn in by Chief Justin McClarrie. We wish him continued success as he serves our organization and community.

Scammers are using the MyChart name and logo to appear legitimate, sending emails about a "2026 MyChart Senior Health Package," Medicare wellness benefits or a free health kit. 📩

These emails ask you to click a link, confirm an address, or provide personal information. They are fake and NOT affiliated with MyChart or Lexington Health. 🚫

If you get one:
❌ DON'T click links or open attachments
❌ DON'T reply or share personal, medical, financial, or insurance information
✅ DO mark it as phishing/junk and delete

This week, May 11–May 16, is a celebration honoring the courageous police officers who serve their communities with respect and dignity, while also remembering those who lost their lives in the line of duty. We are PROUD to have twenty-one police officers serving at Lexington Health . These men and women work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the communities we serve, all while maintaining strict standards of professionalism through both state and national accreditation.
