San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District Providing the highest level of protection from vectors & vector-borne diseases in San Gabriel Valley

The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District is a public health special district dedicated to the control of mosquitoes and other vectors capable of transmitting disease to people. We are funded through an annual benefit assessment paid by property owners located within member cities and unincorporated county areas in the District's service area. This assessment supports all of our op

erational, educational and vector control activities. If you are looking for more information about the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District, please visit www.SGVmosquito.org

Ever wonder what happens to the mosquitoes we trap? 🦟🔬

Our surveillance team collects mosquitoes from traps throughout the community, identifies them in the lab, and sends samples for testing.

This work helps us track mosquito populations and detect vector-borne diseases, giving us the information needed to protect our communities and respond before problems grow.

🦟 Our latest Short Bites Monthly update is here!

Each month, we share updates on mosquito activity, disease surveillance, community outreach, and the work being done throughout the San Gabriel Valley to help protect public health.

As temperatures rise and mosquito activity increases, now is a great time to take a few minutes to inspect your yard for standing water where mosquitoes can grow. Even small amounts of water in flower pots, buckets, plant saucers, or other containers can become mosquito sources.

📖 Read this month's update and learn what's happening in your community.

A day in the field with our mosquito control technicians. 🦟

Technicians are conducting mosquito source inspections and treatments to help reduce mosquito activity in the community. Preventing mosquitoes before they emerge is one of the most effective ways to protect public health during warmer months.
Be sure to do your part and check your yard regularly for stagnant water to help prevent mosquitoes.

MYTH: Sterile Insect Technique (S.I.T.) is a one-time fix.

FACT: S.I.T. works through repeated releases over time.
Mosquitoes keep reproducing, so control efforts have to keep up. That’s why S.I.T. is used consistently and often alongside other mosquito control methods. This approach helps lower mosquito populations gradually and sustainably.

Consistency over time = fewer biting mosquitoes.
