Jericho House Historical Center

Jericho House Historical Center Built in 1801 by sea captain Theophilus Baker, this historic home in West Dennis, MA, is now used as a museum and historical center.

This early 19th century house displays antiques, glassware, costumes, and much more. The Barn Museum contains antique carriages, cranberry sorters, and other antique tools. The collection also includes the unique Driftwood Zoo, crafted in the 1950s by Sherman Woodward. Jericho House was occupied by the descendants of Theophilus Baker's family until 1955, when it was sold to the noted author Elizab

eth Reynard. She named the house Jericho because the walls were falling down. She and her companion Virginia Gildersleeve embarked on a restoration of the house, but when Reynard passed away in 1962, Gildersleeve donated the house to the town of Dennis for use as a historical center.

On October 2, Jericho hosted its second annual apple pie contest, with 16 delicious entries. The judges had a very difficult job, but Gwenn Friss, David Rodriguez, and Paul McCormick rose to the occasion!

Ivaylo Dragnev from Dennis Port won first prize, Jenn Marceline from Dennis Port took 2nd, and Amy Berry from West Dennis came in 3rd. The three winners all used Granny Smith apples.

After the judging, friends, family, and other hungry folk joined in to enjoy the entries and the fine fall weather. It was a great end to Jericho's 2017 season.
