Last night we conducted mutual aid training with West End Fire and Rescue where their Lt. M Scott led the training on their aerial truck. It's very common in combination departments (partial paid staffing and volunteers) that when called to emergency scenes crews from two different departments will blend together to complete tasks. With this in mind training together on one another equipment is essential to allow crew blending to be efficient. We'd like to extend thanks to West End F&R and Lt. Scott for joining us last night for training.

On this day we take time to remember and honor those who gave up their lives so that we can live free. Their sacrifice is often taken for granted without realizing it as we go about our days. Let's take time to reflect, remember and honor them and their families who also paid the price with losing their loved one.

In commemoration of our 50th year of serving the Seven Lakes community we had two compasses painted on the corners of the walkway. Pointing true north they serve as a reminder to our members always finding a way when it comes to helping our community in times of need.

As we are into the hot season let's remember some safety tips. Watch for signs over overheating and heat stroke and do as much as possible to stay cool if you have to be outside for long periods of time. NEVER leave children or pets in a vehicle even if you "crack the windows" the temperature inside will still rise to dangerous levels in a matter of minutes.

Today with again be sunny, dry and hot with highs in the 90s. Be sure to practice heat safety tips if you have to be outside!

Our Fish Fry is BACK!!! This event is to benefit Retired EMS Major Mike Allred of Moore County EMS who served the citizens of Moore County for almost 22 years. His total career spans 45 years in the EMS services over several areas. Major Allred was forced into retirement after a stroke that has left him in need of ongoing treatment and assistance. His wife and caretaker is also an active serving member of Moore County EMS. (Medical information shared with written permission from the caretaker) . We are trying to do our part to assist the burdens placed on them and are asking the public's assistance in this . Join us Friday June 19th from 5pm-8pm for our famous fish fry and help support a local public servant! Cost is $14 a plate and ALL Proceeds go directly to Major Allred and his medical bills.

Effective tomorrow morning at 8am the burn band for moore county will be lifted. Still apply for a burn permit from NC Forestry Service for any open burning.

We'd like to take a moment and thank all our members on international Firefighters Day. Over the last 50 years people in our community stepped up and volunteered to join together and serve others. Today is a day to recognize them and their hard work and dedication. So THANK YOU to all our current and retired members.

It may be wet outside right now but in a few hours it's gonna be fiery in the bay with River Ridge performing 4-6pm for TONIGHT'S benefit concert for Macey.
