TFHS Regular Meeting July 2, 2026
Meeting was held at the Historical Society Store building in Breakabeen. Meeting was called to order 4:00 pm by President Joyce Hodder with a salute to the flag. Members present were: Charley Spickerman, Albert Hodder, Joyce Hodder, Joe Keyser, Clayton Ash, Jackie Ash, Laura Spickerman, Becky Noxon, Karen Cuccinello, and guest Dean Rhinehart.
Minutes from June 4, 2026 meeting were approved with a motion made by Jackie and a second by Becky. All in favor motion passed.
Treasurer’s report was read by Charley. Motion for approval was made by Joe and seconded by Joyce. All in favor, motion passed.
Albert read a story of how electricity supply and usage has changed through the years. The story was in the April 2, 2026 issue of the Times Journal and was written by Charles Spaulding. A lot of times we forget that regular electricity supply has not been in Schoharie County for that long!
Calendars: Becky brought the 2027 version of the calendar hot off the presses from Race Printing. Motion was made by Jackie and seconded by Laura to pay Race $730.00 for the calendar printing. All in favor, motion passed. Thank you, Becky, calendars look great!
The annual community picnic will be held noon Sunday August 2 at the West Fulton schoolhouse (weather permitting, rain location will be the West Fulton firehouse). This is a potluck event. Please bring a dish to pass, place setting, and seating, (there will be a limited number of chairs available). There will be a quilt show at the Methodist Church. Members and the public are requested to bring their quilts to show. There will also be jams and jellies for sale at the church. Come out and support your community. Posters will be put up at various locations around town. KariAnn will be asked to make up the posters.
Veteran’s Park: A meeting will be held with the committee and an Eagle Scout candidate who wants to do his project at the park. A motion was made by Jackie to give Dean Rhinehart and Tom Conto each $100.00 for their part in mowing the park, seconded by Albert, all in favor, motion passed.
July 3, 2026 events: Celebration in Middleburgh for the 250th. Joyce, Albert, and Becky will set up a booth to display and sell Historical Society items.
Jackie shared some engraved plates from the Zelie family that had been on caskets.
New business: Joyce is making contact with probation to hopefully have a person do community service work for both the Historical Society and the Breakabeen Cemetery. Questions arose about liability. There will be no officers on site.
Next regular meeting will be 4:00pm August 6, 2026 at the Historical Society Store building at 121 Clauverwie, Breakabeen.
Motion to adjourn was made by Charley with a second by Becky. All in favor, motion passed.
