Independent Reform Party

Independent Reform Party The Independent Reform Party was created to reform the corrupt system of financing Congressional ele My name is F. Bernard Forand. Our goals are to:

1.

I am the founder of the Independent Reform Party, and have been joined by a group of fellow Americans with extensive experience in both the private sector and in state and federal government. We are very concerned about the seemingly inevitable drift of our country toward an oligarchy where the ultra-rich and large corporations have taken control of the levers of governmental power to satisfy thei

r own selfish interests. END THE CORRUPTION IN FINANCING CONGRESSIONAL ELECTIONS by enacting small donor public match legislation that will reduce the influence of mega-donors and give average Americans a better chance to influence the outcome Congressional elections.

2. ENACT COMPREHENSIVE PERSONAL INCOME TAX REFORM by eliminating the unequal tax rates on capital gains and the stepped up basis of valuing assets upon the death of donors. These two changes would significantly reduce income inequality and facilitate both a major reduction in the size of the federal deficit and the reduction in middle income tax rates.

3. IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE CORPORATE TAX REFORMS by eliminating most major tax breaks to corporations so that they once again pay their fair share of federal taxes.

4. MPLEMENT PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE MIDDLE CLASS such as: substantially increasing the minimum wage, expanding earned income tax credits, expanding high quality early childhood education, improving and expanding adult education and workforce development programs, and committing to an overhaul of the American infrastructure that will create over 1 million well-paying jobs. To accomplish these goals we challenge existing members of Congress in the 2016 elections. According to the results of the last 11 elections,in ten of these elections the IRP, if it won 78 House seats, it would have prevented either major party from controlling the House. If we succeed, the IRP will gain major traction in passing campaign finance reform legislation that would reduce the influence of big business in controlling Congress. Join together with reform minded citizens to TAKE BACK AMERICA and usher in a new period of responsive government committed to the well-being of all our citizens. The IRP's proposed jobs program will generate over 1 million new, well paying jobs, and is funded in large part by a special tax on the $2 trillion of corporate profits held abroad.

Over the next ten years, this massive rebuilding of our nations infrastructure will bring the U.S. to more effective levels already achieved by other western countries.

All who join the Independent Party should participate in the challenging and invigorating process of developing the party’s platform. We look forward to a day when a group of dedicated Americans gather to collectively hammer out our priorities to solve the pressing problems facing America. To get t…

In the 1950's corporate taxes paid for 25% of federal outlays; by the 1960s it had dropped to 20% and by fiscal 2012, it had dropped to a paltry 7% of government expenditures

Is it too much to ask that corporations should pay their fair share of federal taxes? We don't think so.

In 2013 corporate after tax profits of $1.7 trillion equaled 10% of the country’s gross national product, the highest level on record. In that same year labor compensation as a share of the economy fell to 52.7%, the lowest level since 1948. Does this gross in balance between corporate profits and w…

What would happen if the minimum wage had increased at the same rate as pay for top CEO's?

What would happen if the minimum wage had increased at the same rate as pay for top CEO's?

The average pay of the top 350 CEOs increased by 937% between 1978 and 2013. If the federal minimum wage had increased at the same rate as these top CEOs, the federal minimum wage would now be $24.83 instead of $7.25. Do you think this is fair? If not join the IRP and help us elect a Congress that s…
