Allingtown Volunteer Fire Association The AVFA is a 100% volunteer engine company within the city of West Haven Internship credit is available for successful participation in the program.

Allingtown offers a Live-in Program for University of New Haven students, typically Fire Science Majors and members of the EMS Club (though all majors are welcome.) This program allows up to six students to live in the Admiral Street Station located approximately ¼ mile from the main UNH campus. The Admiral Street Station contains 2 kitchens, sleeping accommodations for 6, internet service, on sit

e laundry and quiet study space. As a member of the program, students gain experience not currently offered in this area. This experience comes from being mentored by professional fire officers during training, handling alarms and back at the station. A UNH Coordinator is appointed by the Association to assist Members of the live-in program and act as a liaison between the AVFA and the University community. All students are responsible for maintaining apparatus, equipment, quarters, as well as following Rules and Regulations, Policies and By-laws. Live-In applicants must be 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license and become an Allingtown Volunteer Fire Association Member. State of Connecticut Fire Fighter I certification or Connecticut Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) must be obtained within the first year. Details regarding internship found in the FS-502 syllabus and through your UNH adviser. Several past participants of the program have gone on to successful careers in the Fire Service.

It is with pride and a little bit of sadness that the AVFA says "till we see you again" to Lt. Sam Manuel as he embarks on an epic journey to Antarctica. Lt. Manuel has been a driving force for recruitment and fundraising within the AVFA and is by far the coolest member ever (he definitely doesn't manage the Facebook or anything) best of luck! Allingtown Volunteer Fire Association will host its annual wreath laying ceremony at the Allingtown Green Memorial Day morning, Monday, May 27 at 9:00. The marching procession will leave the Admiral Street station at 8:55. The procession will be led by the New Haven County firefighters pipe and drum band.

Wreaths will be lead at the war Memorial and the firefighters memorial.

The public is invited to attend.

Congratulations to Firefighter Vanessa Connolly and all her classmates on your graduation from the Valley Chiefs Firefighter 1 class of 2024!
FF Connolly not only successfully graduated from this rigorous 6 month class but she did so as the Valedictorian, the leader of squad 3, and as a full time UNH student and Track and Field athlete.

Vanessa has continued to shine as a studious, knowledgeable and dedicated member of the AVFA ever since she joined and has once again represent the Association with pride, dedication, and hard work earning her the AVFA Bulldog along with these well deserved recognitions.
