The Pennsylvania National Guard has entered its training season, and that means you'll be seeing more of us on the roads! Motorists should expect increased military convoy traffic across the commonwealth as our Soldiers and Airmen sharpen their skills.
Here are a few facts you might not know about the Pennsylvania National Guard:
💥We are the second-largest National Guard in the nation, with nearly 18,000 members ready to answer the call for our commonwealth and country.
💥Fort Indiantown Gap is a hub of activity, consistently ranking as one of the busiest National Guard training centers in the United States, with over 100,000 personnel training there annually. It was the busiest National Guard training center in 2025.
As our convoys move across the state, please remember these safety tips for civilian drivers:
💥Be Patient: Military convoys often travel at slower speeds, with a maximum of 45 mph, to ensure the safety of our personnel and the public.
💥Keep a Safe Distance: Our vehicles maintain a significant distance between them for safety. Please do not cut in between convoy vehicles.
💥Pass with Care: When passing a convoy, ensure you have a clear lane and enough room to do so safely.
💥Watch for Signals: The last vehicle in a convoy is marked with a sign that says "CONVOY AHEAD" to alert you.
We appreciate your support and understanding as our service members conduct vital training, so we remain Always Ready, Always There!
