In Loving Memory

Hurley Ambulance Service extends our deepest condolences to the families of Jimmy and Mindy Brugger.

It would be hard to find someone in the fire or EMS community who has not crossed paths with one or both of these amazing individuals throughout their career, training, or service.

To everyone who knew and loved Jimmy and Mindy—friends and family, some connected by blood and others by choice—you are in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Their impact on the fire and EMS community, and on the many lives they touched, will not be forgotten.

Rest easy, Jimmy and Mindy. Your service, friendship, and memories will live on.

Hurley Ambulance Service is looking to update some of the furniture at our station, and we’re reaching out to our community for help!

We’re currently looking for a few new pieces of furniture to help make our station more comfortable for our members, including:

• A new couch preferably reclining
• A new loveseat preferably reclining
• A kitchen table and chairs
• A desk or small workspace / office supplies etc.

For the couch, loveseat, and or recliners, we are specifically hoping to find new furniture when possible so we can avoid concerns with mold or other issues that can come with previously used upholstered furniture.

If you or a local business would be interested in donating new furniture, purchasing an item for the station, or helping contribute toward these items, we would greatly appreciate it. We are also open to gently used, clean furniture for items such as a kitchen table or office desk.

If you’re interested in helping or have something you think may be a good fit, please reach out to us at [email protected]

Thank you to everyone in our community who continues to support Hurley Ambulance Service and our members! 🚑

After so much loss in our First Responder community over the last month, I hope our community truly sees and appreciates the dedication of their First Responders.
Today, my crew had the privilege of transporting someone home from rehab. This transport hit especially close to home because the patient and the Hurley Ambulance driver have been friends for many years.
When my crew arrived at the rehab facility, they were met with tears. Thankfully, they weren't tears of sadness—they were tears of relief and joy at seeing a familiar face after months apart, and knowing a trusted friend would be taking him home.
Moments like these remind me why I am so proud of the employees at Hurley Ambulance. They greet every patient with kindness, compassion, and respect. They do the job because helping people through some of the hardest moments of their lives is what they are called to do. They do it with kindness because that's what every patient deserves.
Every shift brings the unknown. They never know who they'll be caring for or what challenges they'll face. Sometimes, that patient turns out to be someone they know, someone they care about, or someone who has been part of their life for years. Yet they continue to answer the call with professionalism, compassion, and heart.
Kudos to the staff at HAS. Your dedication never goes unnoticed.
Donnie, I hope you had a smooth ride home. I'm so glad we were there to help. ❤️🙂

Thank you for all you do,

Chief Buchinger

Once again, we find ourselves standing in solidarity with one of our neighboring agencies as they mourn the loss of an extraordinary member.
David Allen was more than a member of the Spring Lake Fire Department. He was a dedicated State Fire Instructor whose passion for teaching, leadership, and service touched the lives of countless firefighters. His knowledge, mentorship, and commitment to the fire service will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of learning from and serving alongside him.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with David's family, his brothers and sisters at the Spring Lake Fire department. May they find strength in the memories they shared and comfort in the legacy he leaves behind.
