The overall goal is to drive down the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities. It's not about writing tickets; it's about saving lives.

Last night, Trooper Schroder arrested a 37-year-old Indianapolis man for Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

Trooper Schroder stopped the vehicle on State Road 25 near County Road 700 North in Tippecanoe County after observing it traveling 105 mph in a posted 60 mph zone.

During the traffic stop, further investigation led Trooper Schroder to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

Speed and impaired driving remain two of the leading causes of serious crashes. If you choose to drink, make a plan for a safe ride home. One bad decision can have life-changing consequences.

Today, 60 men and women who make up the 90th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy reported to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy to begin their journey toward becoming Indiana State Troopers.

Over the coming months, these recruits will face the demanding physical, academic, and practical training required to earn the privilege of wearing the Indiana State Police uniform and serving the citizens of Indiana.

Before training officially begins, troopers from across the state joined the recruits and their families for Blue Sunday, an opportunity to welcome them to the Indiana State Police family and recognize the support system that will be essential throughout the academy experience.

We wish each recruit success as they begin this challenging and rewarding journey.
