Purdue Peace Project

Purdue Peace Project “Promoting Peace Through Local Action” PPP builds on the experience of local leaders in successfully preventing or ending armed conflict in their countries.

PPP addresses situations in which violence appears to be imminent by empowering local leaders to take immediate action to prevent violence. Many small countries that have avoided armed conflict have made impressive political, economic, and social progress without significant outside help.

Our Story

The Purdue Peace Project (PPP) is a university-based political violence prevention initiative that does peacebuilding work in areas threatened by such violence and conducts research to advance knowledge about political violence prevention at the local, community level.

The PPP convenes local citizens and leaders to help them address immediate threats of political violence in their communities. We continually monitor and evaluate our projects to maximize our impact. Then, we share our experience and effective practices with practitioners and scholars around the world.

The Purdue Peace Project is committed to:

  • Its data-driven, locally led approach to peacebuilding
