C-Shift spent part of Tuesday sharpening aerial and ladder truck placement skills. Operating in the tight, narrow alleys behind campus fraternities and sororities requires precise positioning, careful consideration of aerial reach and limitations, and awareness of hazards such as balconies, power lines, and cable lines.

On September 11, 2026, our community will mark 25 years since the attacks that changed our nation forever. Our community, first responders, and military members from across Tippecanoe County will come together for a Remembrance Ceremony honoring those we lost, the first responders who answered the call, and the service members who continue to protect our nation.

Proud of the teamwork and expertise demonstrated by our firefighters alongside regional hazmat partners during this incident. Mutual aid remains essential to keeping our communities safe. Thank you to everyone who responded and supported the operation.

TEMA HazMat was requested by the Fountain County EMA Director to assist with a leaking 3,000-gallon tank of Hydrochloric Acid at a local manufacturing facility.

TEMA HazMat, along with HazMat teams from LFD/WLFD and Evonik, responded to the facility to assist with mitigation efforts. Upon arrival, command was established to gather pertinent information and coordinate the response.

Response teams began preparations to enter the area and address the leak. Fortunately, onsite workers were able to successfully pump off the leaking tank before entry was necessary.

After entry preparations and comprehensive air monitoring were completed, the scene was determined to be safe.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to all of our mutual aid partners who dropped what they were doing and made the approximately 45-minute drive to assist. Your willingness to respond, work together, and support our neighboring communities is what makes mutual aid so valuable.
