It has been a busy start for the West Lafayette Fire Academy. Recruits are actively working through required hazmat training and certifications while building familiarity with department equipment and maintaining daily physical training.
We will continue to share updates as they develop their skills, with the Academy scheduled to conclude in mid-September.

This morning was a proud and memorable day for our department as we celebrated the promotion of three outstanding members: Justin Taylor to Battalion Chief, Stevie Jenkinson to Captain, and Drew Snider to Lieutenant. Mayor Easter had the honor of administering the oath of office to each of our newly promoted officers.

We also recognized Division Chief of Training Eric Doyle and Sworn Inspector Thomas Lynch as they transition into their new roles, and extended our sincere appreciation to Chaplain Stefan Nitzschke for his dedicated service as he prepares to serve a new community near Cincinnati.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to support and recognize these individuals and their continued commitment to our department and community.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the freedoms we enjoy. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families who carry their memory and their sacrifice every day.
May we never forget their courage, their service, or the cost of our freedom.

WLFD, LFD, and TCSD swift water rescue team members recently took our new rescue boat out for several days of training, practicing a variety of water rescue maneuvers to stay ready for emergencies. This rapidly deployable boat will respond from the West Lafayette levee area, helping our crews reach people in the water quickly when seconds count.
