We were proud to assist on a successful high-angle rescue mutual aid response alongside Morgan County Rescue. Calls like these demonstrate the value of training, teamwork, and strong partnerships between emergency response agencies.

To become a Firefighter II, firefighters must complete a minimum of 300 hours of certification training, including at least 11 hours of basic rope rescue instruction. Technical and high-angle rope rescue also require additional specialized courses and ongoing hands-on training to maintain the knowledge and skills needed for these complex incidents.

This is just one of the many scenarios we train for, ensuring we’re prepared to provide safe, effective rescue services when our community and neighboring agencies need us most.

We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside Morgan County Rescue and are grateful for the dedication of everyone involved in making this rescue a success.

Today, our department officially deployed our UTV into service. This unit will be utilized primarily for city events to provide rapid fire suppression via its onboard foam unit, which is slated for installation. Additionally, it will serve as a resource for basic first aid response at these events until emergency medical services arrive. The unit will also function as a backup for county departments during multi-unit rough terrain rescue operations and will be available to support city utilities as needed. We would like to express our gratitude to the Morgan County Fiscal Court for allocating Coal Severance Funds to support the acquisition of this unit. Consistent with our department's tradition since 1935, we remain prepared to assist our city and county whenever the need arises.

Today is International Firefighters Day. We couldn’t be prouder of the men and women in our department for the job they do every single day. Morgan County is BLESSED to have the volunteer firefighters we have. They are willing to answer the call every time the bell rings to help anyone in need!

Firefighters from West Liberty, White Oak and Blackwater fire departments participated in UTV training last night. These machines were purchased by each department from Coal Severance Funds given to them by the Morgan County Fiscal Court. The UTV’s will be utilized for rough terrain operations such as forest/brush fires, rough terrain rescue and for special events for risk management purposes. Each firefighter was scored and passed on each machine before being able to operate per department policies. These machines are another tool for us to do our jobs quickly and safely, and as always we appreciate our community support.
