Some photos of last weeks driver training. Members drove all vehicle types to ensure competency and familiarity. This helps us ensure we are ready to respond, but also complies with Iowa code for emergency vehicle operators.

FYI: We will have multiple Emergency Apparatus at the WL High School Parking lot tonight for driver training. You may hear a lot of beeping and see flashing lights. This is a training exercise.

5 Days, 6 Events, Over 23 hours of Event Standby Coverage, 20+ WL Fire & EMS Agency Volunteers, 9 WL Fire-EMS apparatus, 3 Mutual Aid agencies, 8 Mutual Aid Apparatus, 15 Mutual Aid Agency Volunteers. Fair week is always a busy time, many more hours go into planning, preparing & cleanup for fair week.

Yep, that’s 146°F after only 5 minutes!
Never leave a person or animal unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes!
Temperatures increase significantly in a short amount of time in a vehicle. This drastic and rapid increase in temperature can become life threatening, FAST. Children & the elderly are extremely susceptible to heat emergencies.
If you see a person or animal unattended in a vehicle who are at risk, call 9-1-1. Be prepared to listen to the dispatchers instructions.
