Please help me in congratulating Katelyn Phillips on earning her 50 flight wings! It may not sound like much but it takes a huge commitment along with learning and thinking outside the box to complete those first 50 flights. It has been a privilege and an honor to watch her grown into an incredible flight nurse. 🚁💨❤️🥳

Presenting Katelyn her wings is her partner, the one and only Bud Moore. And of course an honorable mention to Adam Rodgers for the picture. 😁

🚁 The End of an Era 🚁

Tuesday night marked Brian’s final landing at our base here in West Liberty.

Brian will soon be transferring to our sister company, Med-Trans, bringing him much closer to his home in Tennessee. While we are happy for him and this new chapter, his absence will certainly be felt by everyone at Air Evac 118 and throughout the communities he has served.

Brian has been more than just a pilot—he has been a trusted teammate, a friend, and an important part of our Air Evac family. His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to safely caring for the people of Eastern Kentucky have left a lasting impact.

Although Tennessee may be home, we know West Liberty and Eastern Kentucky will forever hold a special place in his heart—and Brian will always have a place in ours.

Thank you for every safe flight, every early morning, every late night, and every memory. We wish you nothing but success and happiness in this next chapter.

This may be your last landing at our base, but you will always be part of the AEL 118 family. 💙🚁

🚁 Important Reminder from Air Evac Lifeteam 118 🚁

As everyone gets ready to enjoy the fireworks tonight, we want to remind the public that the helipad at Air Evac Lifeteam remains an active aircraft landing zone at all times.

For everyone’s safety, please do not sit, stand, park, or gather on the helipad or within the immediate landing zone to watch the fireworks.

Even during community events, our helicopter may be called to respond at any moment for emergency patient transport. A clear and secure landing zone is critical to ensuring we can safely take off and land without delay.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we continue serving our community.

Please help us by sharing this post and reminding others to keep the helipad clear.

🚁 EARLY ACTIVATION SAVES LIVES 🚁

When seconds matter, early activation of air medical resources can make all the difference.

Whether it’s:
• Serious trauma incidents
• Critical medical emergencies
• Remote or hard-to-access scenes
• Stroke or cardiac patients
• Multi-patient incidents
• Or even precautionary in-air standbys during extended extrications or high-risk calls

Calling early allows the flight crew to begin preparing before the patient ever leaves the scene.

Early activation helps:
✅ Reduce delays to definitive care
✅ Improve patient outcomes
✅ Allow crews and hospitals to prepare sooner
✅ Provide additional critical care resources
✅ Support ground EMS, fire, and rescue personnel

Remember — activation does not always mean transport. It means having the resource available if the patient needs it.

When in doubt, call it out. Early activation gives everyone more options when every minute counts.

A huge thank you to Wolfe County 4-H, Breathitt-Wolfe EMS, Wolfe County 911, and all of the other agencies involved for organizing and hosting the annual distracted/impaired driving mock crash for students.

We truly appreciate the opportunity to participate in such an important event that helps educate young drivers on the very real dangers and consequences of distracted and impaired driving. These hands-on demonstrations make a lasting impact, and it takes a tremendous amount of teamwork and dedication from everyone involved to make it happen each year.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Carter County Emergency Management, Carter County EMS, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, Carter County 911 Dispatch, East Carter High School, the Grayson Fire Department, and everyone involved in organizing today’s drunk driver awareness event.

The time, effort, and coordination that went into this event were evident, and the message delivered was powerful and meaningful for all who attended.
