Attention West Long Branch Residents: Anticipated Snow Event
The West Long Branch Office of Emergency Management is advising residents that 1 to 3 inches of snow is anticipated beginning around 7:00 p.m. this evening and ending before sunrise.
According to information/data learned from the National Weather Bureau and Tri-State Storm Watch, current observations support a general 1 to 3 inch snowfall across central and northern New Jersey. The area most likely to see the higher totals (2 to 3 inches) will be across central New Jersey between the I-195 corridor and the south side of I-78, where a narrow band of heavier snow could develop. As always, conditions may change depending on the track of the storm.
Forecast data indicates 1 to 2 inches is more likely across northern New Jersey and the NYC metro area. Further south, below central Ocean County, rain at the onset may limit snowfall accumulations but could create icy conditions.
With prior road treatment in place on local, county, and state roadways, warming temperatures, and the Presidents Day holiday reducing traffic volume, significant travel impacts are not expected. However, residents should use caution if traveling this evening or overnight, as slippery conditions may develop on untreated surfaces and secondary roadways.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring local conditions and exercise caution if traveling.
Just as a reminder, parking vehicles on a snow covered roadway is prohibited, Summons will be issued. So, please try and get vehicles off roads in the event it is a plowable snow so road crews can work.
