This evening crews trained with Engine/Tanker 30, practicing drafting from an elevated position at the creek located on State Route 722 in Castine. Following the training, crews were dispatched mutual aid to New Madison Fire on a possible structure fire.

With the coming storm predicted to dump a substantial snow amount this weekend, we are asking that anyone who has a hydrant in the vicinity of your house, please take the time to clear it if you are able, It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, and please, if it's not necessary to travel during this event, stay home and enjoy it from the warmth of your couch or favorite recliner.

At 1727 hrs, crews were dispatched to a possible structure fire, possible fire in the attic. With aid of a Thermal Imaging Camera, crews located an electrical issue related to the homes water heater. A second crew checked entire attic with a TIC and located no issues. Power was killed to the water heater and homeowner was advised to contact an electrician. At 1759, while still on scene of 1st call, Station was dispatched for a vehicle fire on Interstate 70, vehicle was located around the 6.5 mile marker westbound on the side of the road, fire had extended to the ditch and worked it's way to a corn stubble field to the north. Fire was quickly extinguished and units returned to service. Good job by all.
