New Law in effect!
β³ GOLF CARTS
Golf carts are generally PROHIBITED on public and private roads within the City of West Melbourne.
An exception may apply within a private community that has properly designated its private roads for golf cart use in accordance with City requirements.
Golf carts are also prohibited from being operated on:
π« Sidewalks
π« Bike paths
π« Pedestrian paths
π« City parks
π LOW-SPEED VEHICLES (LSVs)
LSVs are different from golf carts and must meet Florida's requirements for street-legal operation.
LSVs may operate on qualifying roads with a posted speed limit of 35 MPH or less and must meet applicable state requirements, including being:
β
Titled
β
Registered
β
Insured
β
Operated by a properly licensed driver
LSVs are also prohibited from sidewalks, bike paths, pedestrian paths, and city parks, except for vehicle parking lots and designated vehicle access to those lots.
β οΈ VIOLATIONS MAY RESULT IN FINES OR CRIMINAL TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS.
π΅ First violation: $50
π΅ Second violation: $100
π΅ Third and subsequent violations: $250
A golf cart and a street-legal LSV are not the same thing. Before operating either one, know which type of vehicle you have and where it can legally be driven.
Help us keep West Melbourne's roadways, sidewalks, and neighborhoods safe.
