Today, Mayor McClendon and city leaders joined the City of West Memphis Community Outreach Department to interview students for Mayor McClendon’s Summer Jobs Program.

This program is bigger than a summer paycheck. It gives young people the opportunity to build workplace skills, strengthen confidence, learn financial responsibility, and gain real world experience while working on projects that impact our community.

Each Friday, students will take part in leadership and life skills training focused on Conflict resolution, Communication skills, Workplace safety, Civic responsibility, Financial literacy, Business plan development, and more!

At the end of the program, students will present their ideas and projects before the West Memphis City Council.

This investment in our youth would not be possible without the support of NextEra Energy Resources, Turner Construction, West Memphis Utilities, the City of West Memphis Community Outreach Department, the West Memphis City Council, and all of the city department heads who help make this program successful.

Together, we are investing in the next generation and building a stronger future for West Memphis.
