The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the “Drive Sober or get pulled over” Campaign. August 21-through September 7, 2026. The Sheriff’s Department will be doing our part in preventing impaired driving crashes during one of the busiest travel periods of the year-Labor Day weekend. We will increase patrols, sobriety check points, and targeted enforcement across Crittenden County. So plan ahead designate a sober driver before drinking, or use taxi, ride share or call a trusted friend. We want everyone traveling to arrive to your destination safely. Do your part and if you see a suspected intoxicated driver report it.

Plan ahead, drive sober, and keep Crittenden County safe.

Jail Standards, Certification of Proficiency class is being conducted at the Crittenden County Detention Center. The class is being given to certify Jailers by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) This Training may be applied to the technical certificate in Law Enforcement and the associate of applied science degree with an emphasis on Law Enforcement. All Jail Employees are required to obtain the training and to be certified. The class was hosted by the Crittenden County Detention Center. The class was taught by an agent with Law Enforcement Standards. Present were Jail Administrator Jeff Thomas and training coordinator Captain Nick James. Special Thanks to CLEST for the training.

Congratulation goes out to Crittenden County Deputy Sheriff Quan McKenzie who graduated this morning from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy after completing the 13 week course at Camden, Arkansas. Quantavious McKenzie was born in West Memphis, Arkansas and graduated High School at the Academies of West Memphis in 2015. After High School Quantavious McKenzie joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country and was honorably discharged in 2022. He is a certified emergency Medical Technician (EMT)and we are proud to have him as one of our newest Deputies. He will be assigned to the Patrol Division where he will finish his Field Training Officer (FTO) program. It’s always great to have a home grown person return to serve and protect the community he grew up in. Congratulations Deputy McKenzie.

A Proctor man was arrested at his residence on Lake Rest road yesterday around 1:55 PM after Deputies who were dispatched to the residence for a welfare check on the victim. Deputies were advised that her phone was pinging from the proctor address. Deputies found a woman who had been badly beaten and had been kidnapped from her place of employment in Marion the evening before, deputies arrested 29 year old Justin Dewayne Rivera on Probation Violation, Kidnapping and domestic Battery 2nd Degree, interference with emergency communication and Possession of a Firearm by a certain person (Convicted Felon) The suspect was booked into the Crittenden County Jail and is expected to have a bond hearing Friday Morning in West Memphis District Court.

The victim is now safe and expected to make a full recover from her injuries and was not hospitalized.

The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Arkansas State Police and the Arkansas Highway Safety Office this July 4th holiday to keep you and your family safe. The campaign is part of a zero- tolerance policy against drinking and driving, with stepped up patrols across Crittenden County. Officer will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, motorist can expect sobriety checkpoints and saturation along state highways and county roads.

Plan ahead: arrange for a sober driver or use public transportation or a taxi. Always use your seatbelt and enjoy this great holiday celebrating the 250 year birthday of this great nation.

Three individuals from West Helena were arrested after reporting a motor vehicle accident and claiming to be injured. During the investigation Deputies learned that the accident was staged after a phone call to Detectives that pulled up a nearby sky cop camera. The three instead of riding to the hospital in an ambulance, they rode In a police car to the County Jail. Upon searching the vehicles officers found a stolen gun in the car and narcotics and paraphernalia . The three have been charged with a felony filing a false police report and felony Criminal Mischief.

The driver of the U-Haul was identified as Carl Lee Boose 59, of West Helena who was charged with Felony Filing a False Police report and Felony Criminal Mischief.

The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was Felicia Larry 44, of West Helena was charged with felony criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by receiving (Firearm), simultaneous possession of drugs and firearm, possession of M**h and Fentanyl.

Tyrone Ewing 46 of West Helena was charged criminal mischief, filing a false police report, theft by receiving (firearm).

The alleged accident was at the Intersection of Hwy 38/ Hwy 147 in the Horseshoe Lake community, The three were booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center and are scheduled to appear in West Memphis District Court on Wednesday for arraignment on the charges,
