Have you noticed something different in Downtown West Monroe? 🌳

The downtown demonstration is a temporary, six-week trial designed to help our community experience several potential improvements before any permanent decisions are made. The demonstration includes adjusted traffic patterns, clearer pedestrian areas, additional parking opportunities and temporary beautification elements such as trees, shrubs and planters.

For Keep West Monroe Beautiful, this is an exciting opportunity to explore how additional landscaping and green space could enhance our downtown area. Beyond adding beauty, trees and plants can provide shade, create more inviting places to walk and gather, and make downtown feel even more welcoming for residents, visitors and local businesses.

Because the demonstration is temporary, it gives everyone an opportunity to experience these ideas firsthand and share meaningful feedback. We encourage you to visit downtown, take a look at the changes and let us know what you think!

Congratulations to the Omicron Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on receiving the West Monroe Community Champion Award at today’s Ouachita Green Awards Luncheon! 🌿

West Monroe Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell presented the award in recognition of the chapter’s commitment to improving and beautifying our community through environmental service throughout 2025.

Among their efforts, members:
• Participated in an Enhance Our Environment cleanup along Coleman Street in West Monroe
• Took part in Love the Boot 2025 through Keep Louisiana Beautiful
• Continued their partnership with Ouachita Green through additional community cleanup efforts throughout the year

These efforts are part of the larger work Ouachita Green recognizes each year — bringing volunteers together to reduce litter, improve public spaces and promote a cleaner, greener Ouachita Parish. In 2025 alone, Ouachita Green’s cleanup efforts involved more than 750 volunteers and removed more than 133,000 pounds of litter from the parish.

Thank you to the members of AKA for your continued investment in West Monroe and for helping make our community a cleaner, more beautiful place to live. 💚

At this week’s West Monroe City Council meeting, a special check presentation celebrated the success of A Night at Restoration Park! 🌿

This special evening brought our community together for local food, fellowship and fun—all while raising funds to support Ouachita Green and the continued work of Keep West Monroe Beautiful.

These funds will help further important efforts throughout our community, including litter prevention, recycling, beautification and sustainability initiatives. We are incredibly grateful to the organizers, participating vendors, sponsors and everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success!

Help us bring a more beautiful, welcoming Downtown West Monroe to life! 🌿

The City of West Monroe is preparing to install a temporary downtown demonstration that will allow the community to experience proposed changes before anything becomes permanent. The demonstration will use temporary features—including trees, landscaping elements and barricades—to show how changes could improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and the overall look and feel of downtown.

Now, we need volunteers to help us put everything in place! Volunteers will meet in Alley Park at 3 p.m. this Sunday, August 23. Please be prepared for physical work outdoors, including moving trees, barricades and other materials. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Cold water and snacks will be provided throughout the afternoon.

This is a great opportunity to help beautify Downtown West Monroe while creating a space our entire community can experience and provide feedback on. We are grateful for every volunteer willing to lend a hand!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 3rd annual Night at Restoration Park and helped make it such a beautiful evening of food, fellowship, music, and community! ✨🍷

We’re so grateful to everyone who gathered under the string lights to enjoy the park, sample delicious bites and drinks from our incredible local vendors, and celebrate the work of Keep West Monroe Beautiful.

A very special thank you to all of our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and partners who helped bring this event to life. Your support makes it possible for Keep West Monroe Beautiful to continue its mission of promoting litter cleanup, recycling, sustainability, and the preservation of the spaces that make our community so special.

We’re already looking forward to next year! 💚

TODAY is the day! The Night at Restoration Park fundraiser kicks off at 6 pm. We do have a shuttle to take guests from the Ike Hamilton Expo Center to the event. During the fundraiser, you can stroll through a section of Restoration Park with food and drink tastings set up along the path. We’re inspired by the fresh flavors of our Restoration Park Community Garden and uniquely Louisiana dishes. Under string lights, you’ll mingle with new friends and enjoy live music from Lane Hodnett. It goes from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the park. ALL the proceeds go back to Keep West Monroe Beautiful, promoting litter cleanups, recycling, and sustainability.

When you think breakfast, you think Delta Biscuit Company! DBC will serve their deviled eggs, full of whipped yolks, mayonnaise, mustard, seasonings, and finished with sweet and spicy pork belly crumble. Stop in for a visit at 2252 Tower Drive in Monroe!

The Creamery, now under new ownership, is a West Monroe staple. It’s a place for people to gather and talk about the day. This year, they’re going to bring a mobile ice cream cart! They are also known for the burgers, so check them out at 178 Blanchard St in West Monroe.

And lastly, Stuart Hodnett and Jessica Torricelli started a community garden at Restoration Park three years ago after meeting at a Love the Boot Week cleanup. While gardening, the conversations flowed toward a fundraiser and we’re now in our 3rd Annual Night at Restoration Park fundraiser. Last year, we netted about $2,200 for Keep West Monroe Beautiful.

Parking is available at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center, with a shuttle service to and from the event at Restoration Park. You can hop on the shuttle at 5:45 p.m., and it will run until 8 p.m.

Trapp’s and Fieldhouse will bring some of their favorite menu items! We’re told meat pies and egg rolls could be in our future. Trapp’s focuses on Cajun cooking, while Fieldhouse is your go-to spot to catch the game and some lunch.
