Congratulations to Mrs. Laura Hunt, West Monroe High School's 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Hunt teaches English IV and serves as Department Head for the English Department among the many other things she does to uphold and further WMHS's standard of excellence.

West Monroe High School mourns the passing of one of our most distinguished alumni, Jerry Stovall.

A true Rebel legend, Jerry Stovall was a three-sport standout at West Monroe High School, graduating in 1959. From West Monroe, his remarkable journey took him to LSU, where he earned the nickname “Mr. Everything” and became a unanimous All-American, SEC Player of the Year, and Heisman Trophy runner-up.

He went on to become the second overall pick in the 1963 NFL Draft, a three-time Pro Bowler, and later returned to LSU as head football coach. In 2010, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
But beyond the awards, records, and accomplishments, Jerry Stovall will always be remembered as a proud son of West Monroe and a tremendous example of what a Rebel can accomplish.

His legacy began right here at West Monroe High School, and his impact will live on for generations.

Members of WMHS Spirit Groups and the varsity football team were invited to participate in Bayou Jamb's Character Counts program at Highland Elementary earlier this week.

Thank you to Bayou Jamb for inviting our students. And, thank you Rebels for encouraging future Rebels to make good decisions, develop strong character, and understand that success begins with the choices they make every day.
