Join us by volunteering!

Help us bring a more beautiful, welcoming Downtown West Monroe to life! 🌿

The City of West Monroe is preparing to install a temporary downtown demonstration that will allow the community to experience proposed changes before anything becomes permanent. The demonstration will use temporary features—including trees, landscaping elements and barricades—to show how changes could improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and the overall look and feel of downtown.

Now, we need volunteers to help us put everything in place! Volunteers will meet in Alley Park at 3 p.m. this Sunday, August 23. Please be prepared for physical work outdoors, including moving trees, barricades and other materials. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Cold water and snacks will be provided throughout the afternoon.

This is a great opportunity to help beautify Downtown West Monroe while creating a space our entire community can experience and provide feedback on. We are grateful for every volunteer willing to lend a hand!

As of this morning 8/20/2026, USDA Drought Monitor is showing Abnormally Dry to Moderate Drought conditions across the LSU AgCenter Northeast Region.

NE Region parishes currently imposing temporary, outdoor burn bans:
Caldwell
Catahoula
Franklin
Madison
Morehouse
Union
West Carroll

West Monroe has temporarily banned on outdoor grilling in city parks.

The parish burn ban map can be viewed on either LDAF or Louisiana State Fire Marshal's website.

You’re Invited to The Community Table Ribbon Cutting!

We’re excited to celebrate the opening of The Community Table, a community pantry located in front of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church designed to make food and other helpful resources easier for families to access.

This project is community in action—a collaboration between Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana, St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, the Origin Bank Family Garden at Children’s Coalition, and LSU AgCenter Ouachita Parish.

Volunteers with the Origin Bank Family Garden have helped oversee the project and even planted a small raised garden at the church. A huge thank-you to our friends at Brown’s Roofing for their never-ending volunteer spirit and for helping relocate the pantry to its new home!
