This Father’s Day, YCS celebrates the dads and father figures who show up for the people they care about.

Being a father figure isn’t defined by a title. It’s reflected in the patience, guidance, encouragement, and steady support that help others feel safe, valued, and loved. Whether through everyday moments, words of reassurance, or simply being present when it matters most, those acts can leave a lasting impact.

To all the fathers and father figures making a difference in the lives of others: thank you for the care, strength, and support you share each day. 💙

Today was the last day of school for GW School, and it was the last day of school for their beloved music teacher Joe Segro, after 25-plus years of service. Mr. Joe's celebration started with a video featuring many of his students thanking him, wishing him a happy retirement, and saying how much they love him. Then a group of students used sign language to thank Mr. Joe for teaching them music and how to have courage. Finally, Kari Scimanico, principal, presented Joe with a gift from his co-workers and a gift from the entire YCS family. Joe was moved by all the love he received and was grateful for everything. The celebration finished with a BBQ-style meal. Joe Segro, thank you for your time at YCS. We wish you all the best for your next chapter. Ycs GW School

We are incredibly honored to share that YCS has been named a 2026 Angels in Adoption® Honoree by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, in partnership with Senator Cory Booker.

The Angels in Adoption® program recognizes individuals and organizations making extraordinary contributions to adoption, foster care, permanency, and child welfare. YCS was selected in recognition of its commitment to supporting vulnerable children, families, and system-involved youth across New Jersey.

This recognition is a reflection of the many people who make our mission possible. It belongs to the staff, foster families, partners, supporters, and community members who open their hearts, lend their support, and help children and families find safety, stability, and a sense of belonging.

Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are grateful to be part of that journey. Thank you to everyone who helps create brighter futures for the children and families we serve.

It was all pomp and circumstance today at the Sawtelle Learning Center graduation. Parents and teachers filled the gymnasium to see their five students become graduates. After the graduation procession, two students opened the ceremony with the pledge of allegiance. Caitlin Corlett, principal, gave her remarks about each student. Some of the graduates came to the podium to give remarks about their accomplishments and their appreciation. Then the graduates received their diplomas. Laura Gustad, assistant director, offered words of appreciation to the parents and thanked them for giving Sawtelle Learning Center the privilege of instructing their children. Parents then received flowers from their graduates. Congratulations to the graduates, their families, and the Sawtelle Learning Center staff!
