We have have received multiple calls asking about a rumor that is going around about the District turning off the water service for 3 days during the freeze. This is NOT true! I have reached out to a few departments in the area and the following are NOT TURNING OFF WATER DURING FREEZE, unless requested by customers.

Orange Co. WCID #2 (West Orange)- 409-883-4003 ext 2
City of Orange - 409-883-1801 ext 2
Orange Co. WCID #1 (Vidor) - 409-769-2669 ext 0

Dripping your faucets will help prevent busted pipes, if you don't want to do that you can request that your water be turned off over the duration of freezing weather over the weekend. If so please let us know by Friday afternoon, 409-883-4003 ext 2.

Open cabinets to let warm air under them and around pipes. Insulate outside faucets.

During the freeze, if conditions are bad, and power is lost, or customers lines start breaking, then there might be some unavoidable downtime. If you see neighbors lines busted you can report to the water department which will greatly help increase any pressure issues.

Stay safe and warm this weekend! Pay attention to weather forecasts. For emergencies call 409-883-4003.
