Last night, our WPBFD personnel who deployed in support of the Venezuela earthquake response with Florida Task Force 2 were recognized by Mayor Keith James and the City Commission. We are proud of Captain MacKillop, K9 Phyre, Captain Tyler, Captain Frattaruolo, FF Bartlett, and Lieutenant Morales (not pictured) for representing our Department, our City, and the State of Florida while providing assistance and expertise during a time of great need. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to serving others, both at home and abroad.

WPBFD was proud to host Florida CFO/SFM Blaise Ingoglia at Station 1 as he announced funding to support firefighter health and safety across Palm Beach County. WPBFD was awarded $19,635 through the Firefighter Cancer Decontamination Grant Program to help provide equipment and resources that reduce firefighters’ exposure to cancer-causing contaminants. We appreciate the State of Florida’s continued investment in protecting those who protect our communities.

This week, Ladder 1 responded to a curious cat stuck in a palm tree. The cat was not injured and was reunited with its owner on scene.

Today, the WPBFD Technical Rescue Team was requested to assist Riviera Beach Fire Rescue at the Port of Palm Beach after a worker fell from a ladder inside a barge approximately 30 feet below deck level. Working alongside Riviera Beach crews, our TRT personnel from Station 5 3rd Platoon accessed and extricated the patient. Excellent collaboration and professionalism from everyone involved ensured the patient was removed safely and transported in stable condition.
