West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority is an independent taxing district created in 1967 by a special act of the Florida Legislature.

Its mission is to promote and enhance a safe, vibrant Downtown for its residents, businesses and visitors through the strategic development of economic, social and cultural opportunities.

In the early 20th century, new businesses, civic buildings, and a major land boom transformed West Palm Beach in a relatively short period. That momentum was soon challenged by devastating storms and national economic conditions, testing the cityโ€™s resilience and influencing its recovery for decades to come.

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), City Hall, and the Mandel Public Library will be closed on Friday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day. The Mandel Public Library will reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. The DDA office and City Hall will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22.

Since 2013, Scott and his team at Scott Lewis Gardening & Trimming have been valued partners in helping maintain and enhance Downtown West Palm Beach's public realm. From caring for our streetscapes and hanging baskets along Clematis Street to supporting hurricane preparedness, beautification projects, community events, and countless improvements throughout the district, their work helps create the vibrant downtown experience enjoyed by residents and visitors every day.
