Three Programs, One Mission: Take Stock in Children PBC & TradeUp unite as College for Kids, Inc.

Together, we build a seamless 6th–12th grade, postsecondary pathway with scholarships, college tours & trade experiences for underserved Palm Beach students. Since its inception in 1995, Take Stock in Children has positively impacted the lives of over 18,000 children statewide throughout 67 counties. Over 7,500 mentors have volunteered with our program and in Palm Beach County alone we have awarde

d over $8 Million in scholarship funds. TSIC Palm Beach is proud to have graduated over 1,200 children considered ‘high-risk’ of drop-out, and currently has over 300 students enrolled and on track for success. Clearly addressing the high school drop-out crisis, and college attainment, Take Stock in Children continues to report an unparalleled high school graduation rate of 92% and a college enrollment rate of 81%. Students are identified in middle and high school and must sign a contract pledging to remain drug and crime free, meet with their mentor weekly and maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.3 or greater. Students fulfilling their contractual obligations receive a full tuition scholarship upon high school graduation. If you would like to become a mentor, please email us at [email protected].

A big thank you to Palm Beach County Deputy Engineer Joanne Keller and Olive Bailey Assistant Director, for hosting For Kids in a behind-the-scenes visit at the Palm Beach County Engineering & Public Works facility!

Our Director of Strategic Giving, Patricia Poldo, and Executive Director, Danielle Oldham, had the opportunity to go “backstage” and learn more about the incredible amount of work that happens every day to keep Palm Beach County moving.

The visit also allowed us to share more about College for Kids and our TradeUp program, as we continue to build partnerships that expose our students to career pathways, skilled trades, and opportunities right here in our own community.

Experiences like this help us connect the dots between education, local industry, and the many career possibilities available to our students. We’re grateful for the time, conversation, and opportunity to learn from the Palm Beach County team!

A few weeks ago, our students headed to Target for one of our favorite traditions of the year—our annual Back-to-School Shopping Event. 🎒
