Outreach & Community Programming Division Director Ike Powell was on hand at the ribbon cutting and tour of the new City of Greenacres, Florida - Government Youth Center! The beautiful facility will be host to many engaging activities for youth and families, including the Teen Out-of-School Time Program, one of the Youth Services Department’s Community-Based Agency (CBA) funded programs to help middle and high schoolers build and maintain positive relationships with law enforcement, engage with mentors (Teen Outreach Program), participate in community service projects, and learn from a Counselor-in-Training program.

Thank you, residents! Your property taxes help fund, in part, the Teen Out-of-School Time (OST) Program.

On June 11, we packed the Highridge Family Center with over 100 friends, partners, and Youth Services Department team members to celebrate the center’s 30th Anniversary! Vice Mayor Marci Woodward kicked off the celebration in the Highridge Family Room, which was filled with beautiful decorations and inspiring testimonial posters from our amazing youth graduates and parents. Congratulations to Admissions Counselor John Harre and Licensed Therapist Manuel Signo, who have been with Highridge from the start, and Division Director Dr. Twila Taylor, for her 29 years of commitment to Highridge! Another highlight of the day? Honoring our inaugural Department Director and Deputy County Administrator, Tammy Fields, as she prepares to retire after 37 years of incredible service to the County. Yesterday was Enrichment Day at Highridge Family Center (HRFC), and we couldn’t have picked a better time to celebrate. With the summer heat in full swing, wrapping up our activities with a cold, refreshing treat was the absolute perfect way to cool off and celebrate our great day. HRFC is a welcoming place where youth ages 11 to 16 are immersed in a structured, safe and therapeutic environment Monday through Friday, positive behaviors are reinforced and youth are taught how to use healthy coping skills in place of negative responses.
